NFL’s Top 15 QBs

Here is a look at the NFL’s top 15 rated Quarterbacks.

New Orleans

Drew Brees posted 6 TDs in his first game, but he has averaged 1.5 TDs per game since then.  Those aren’t exactly top money fantasy numbers.  However, look for Brees to rebound in the coming weeks against the likes of the Rams and the Bucs.

Minnesota

Favre and the Vikings play are at home against the Lions and the leagues 31st ranked passing defence.  Enough said.

Indianapolis

Peyton Manning has passed for less than 300 yards in only one game this year (against the Rams of all teams – that’s like going into Morton’s having a salad).  However, the Colts 2nd half schedule will put those yardage stats to the test.

Pittsburgh

Rarely considered a fantasy stud, Big Ben just continues to win and is the poster child for consistency.

Green Bay

Who would have guessed that Aaron Rodgers worst passing rating of the year would come against the lowly Bucs (57.6) – doesn’t bode well for the rest of the season.

New England

In his first 4 games of the season Tom Brady averaged 282 yards per game and 1 TD.  In his last 4, he is averaging 309 yards passing and 3 TDs per game.  I would jump on this gravy train.

Houston

In week 2, Matt Schaub threw for 4 TDs against the Titans in Nashville.  Guess who is coming to town Nov.23 with the Texans and Shanahan having 2 weeks to prepare?

Dallas

Tony (Cat in the Hat) Romo has only thrown 2 interceptions since his week 2 debaucle when he threw 3 INTs against the Giants.  This of course deserves 2 cartwheels and a fist pump from Wade Phillips.

Philadelphia

Donovan McNabb is pretty much the model of consistency.  Great at home and stinks it up on the road.  Up until this Sunday against Dallas, Donovan McNabb had a league leading 151.9 QB rating at home.  His rating on the road is a paltry 79.  He plays on the road this Sunday against red hot San Diego.

San Diego

Philip Rivers has thrown for 300 yards or more only twice this year.  The next 2 weeks he faces two of the stingier defenses at home against Philly and on the road against Denver, but then follows it up with games against K.C. and Cleveland.  How’s that for a bailout?

Baltimore

Up next – Cleveland?  The only easier decision than starting Joe Flacco this week would be…ummm, there is no easier decision.

New York Giants

A 114 passer rating for Eli Manning in his first 5 games, while posting a 68 in his last 4 games.  His first 5 opponents – Washington, Dallas, T.B., K.C., Oakland.  His last 4 opponents – N.O., Arizona, Philly, S.D.  Is this the curse of Jeremy Shockey or the result of the Giants finally playing teams that have playoff aspirations?  With Atlanta, Dallas, Philadelphia and Denver looming over the next 4 weeks – bye-bye Eli.

Cincinnati Bengals

After this week, you can let the Bengal that is Carson Palmer out of the cage to face the Raiders, Browns and Lions.  But this week – have him sit against Pitt.

Denver

Kyle Orton went into Monday night’s game with an NFL low 1 INT, and threw 3 against the Steelers.  That said would anybody have thought that Orton would have a better passing rating than Jay Cutler at this point in the season?  This week Orton plays at Washington against the league’s 2nd ranked passing defence.

Seattle

Matt Hasselback is sitting out practice with a sore shoulder and considering the fact he will be facing the Cardinals who only gave up 3 points to the ‘Hawks last time they played, you may want to consider ‘taking the ball and winning’ without Hasselback this week.

A Case for the Underdogs and Bucking Broncos

Much has been said and written about the strength of the BCS conferences versus the rest of the NCAA pack.  Among BCS supporters it is widely felt that the smaller non-BCS conferences are unable to carry the proverbial jock of the larger and more elite conferences.  This notion whether true or not is generally further [...]
